May 2, 2016 - ‘Spring Detox Secrets’ Seminar

Members of The Sports Club of Novi will have the opportunity to learn why detoxing matters in the current food and surrounding environment.  We will discuss the three mistakes most detox beginners make (that can be avoided), and explore how to choose the detox that’s right for you and your body.   This serves as a preview into the Spring 5-Day Detox which will kick-off the following week.

March 10, 2016 - ‘Sugar Blues’ Lunch & Learn

GM employees in Pontiac will also get to talk sugar this month.  I will give a detailed overview of sugar, and share the full story of the good, bad and ugly of this food.  With the powerful understanding of how sugar impacts our physiology, we will delve into effective strategies on how to improve employees’ relationship with sugar. for themselves and their families.

March 3, 2016 - ‘Sugar Blues’ Workshop

GM Renaissance Center teams will be having a heart to heart on the controversial topic of sugar.  We will discuss the full spectrum of this food and how to discern the beneficial sugars from the disease triggering ones.  Employees will explore a full view of what has been labelled as the “anti-nutrient” and will learn what to do to manage sugar in their households, while at the same time, reduce cravings and optimize weight.

February 11, 2016 - ‘Sugar Blues’ Lecture - Just in time for Valentine’s Day!

At the local Sports Club of Novi, members will be indulging in the sweet topic of sugar.  Where are you on the sugar spectrum?  Don’t think twice about sweets or concerned about you or your family’s intake?  The Club’s participants will explore a full view of what has been labelled as the “anti-nutrient”.  The workshop will reveal what we can do to manage sugar in our households, while at the same time, reduce cravings and optimize weight.

July 30, 2015 - 'Sleep Yourself Well' Lunch & Learn

As the last talk in the Balanced Living series, GM employees in Pontiac will find out what it's like to wake up every morning feeling refreshed, focused, and excited to move through the day.  I'll be hosting a talk on sleep to share the importance and benefits of quality sleep, and how sleep deprivation affects our daily life.  We will explore ways to improve sleep by evaluating a host of sleep enhancing strategies.

July 17, 2015 - 'Balanced Living' Lunch & Learn

GM employees in Orion Assembly will join their colleagues in Pontiac Powertrain and get themselves into balance.  I'll be sharing a Balanced Living talk to give participants a chance to reframe their perspective on balance, examine setting boundaries and look at their lives with a holistic view. We will work through a Circle of Life exercise, to discover areas where folks could be more balanced and feel more satisfied.

July 16, 2015 - 'Stress Less' Lunch & Learn

GM employees in Pontiac will continue on their journey to Balanced Living, coming off the heels of the opening talk in this three part series.  We will examine the mind-body connection and how our thoughts, feelings and beliefs directly impact our physical well-being.  Participants will learn ways to stress less, via mindfulness, meaningful moments, meditation and breath work, among other strategies to slow down around meal time.

GM employees in Pontiac will start celebrating Summer early with a chance to get in tune to the season and get themselves into balance.  I'll be hosting a Balanced Living series to give participants a chance to look at their lives with a whole view. We will work through a Circle of Life exercise, to discover areas where folks could be more balanced and feel more satisfied. It'll be an opportunity to explore their lives in entirety, by looking at the big picture. Following this opening talk, participants will have an opportunity to dive deeper and learn strategies in follow-up sessions to bring themselves into further balance.

Stop by at the Health Coach table at this popular family wellness conference and see me and my partner Liza Baker of Simply: Health Coaching.  We will be hosting two keynote talks, 'Eating for Energy + Vitality' and 'Stress Less, Live More".  I'll be teaching how our minds are connected to our bodies and why managing the stress response directly aids in weight loss.  We will then explore ways to slow down in all aspects of daily life, including meal time.  We'll have raffle prizes, fun introspective exercises and opportunities to see if health coaching is right for you.

While food and lifestyle are very individual and people can thrive under a process of continuous experimentation, many want to know where to start or need a healthy reset.  I have developed a set of sample meal plans, crafted from my experience as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.  These are designed to achieve optimal weight, reduce food cravings and maximize energy.  I will be hosting one on one sessions to meet with customers who want to take action to improve their diet.

Under the umbrella theme of 'Weigh Less, Live More' which I introduced in January, I'll be helping GM employees discover a safe way to drop pounds and feel better in their bodies with the benefits of moving more.  I'll teach why physical activity directly aids in weight loss, as well as boosts mood and increases energy.  We'll then explore ways of easily adding more movement into their lives.

February 24, 2015 - 'Finding Fiber' Lunch & Learn

Continuing along the theme of 'Weigh Less, Live More' I'll be helping GM employees discover a safe way to drop pounds and feel fully satisfied with the benefits of fiber.  I'll teach why fiber directly aids in weight loss and share good sources of fiber, as well as how to easily add more of it into food choices.  We'll then turn to planning for action and accountability in the two weeks before we meet again.

February 10, 2015 - 'Healthy Fats' Group Coaching

As a follow-up to the opening Weigh Less, Live More workshop given at GM's headquarters in downtown Detroit, I'll be diving deeper into the theme of adding healthy fats into the diet to manage weight.  We'll review a root cause of weight gain by understanding inflammation and discussing ways to incorporate more Omega-3's into the diet to control the inflammation.  In addition, the discussion will broaden to other healthy fats, before we plan for how each participant will experiment with these healthy fats in the two weeks before we meet again.

January 28, 2015 - 'Weigh Less, Live More' Workshop

At GM's headquarters in downtown Detroit, I'll be addressing a popular topic for the new year...weight loss.  I'll share weight loss problems in America and explain why diets do not work.  Participants will discover a safe way to drop pounds and feel fully satisfied, with practical tips on what real food to eat as well as ways to manage weight through lifestyle.  This workshop paves the way for an upcoming four-session series of group coaching that will act as a platform for integrating these principles into participants' daily lives.

November 24, 2014 - Mental Balance & Wellness Show

I will be a guest speaker on therapist Carmelita Samuel's weekly Internet Radio Show that airs Monday evenings at 9pm EST on Urban Nation Radio www.urbannationradio.com.  We'll be discussing self care during these stressful holiday times.  I'll cover how to mentally prepare for the holidays and how to prevent depression and anxiety due to the pressure we can feel from the holidays.  There are several strategies and ways to manage holiday induced stress so that we maintain and improve our health and well-being.

November 3, 2014 - Novi Woods Elementary School

Whole Foods: I'll be teaching the kids at Novi Woods the difference between whole foods and non-whole or processed foods.  This will build awareness and highlight the benefits of whole foods (fruits, vegetables, grains and beans).  We'll start with a light physical activity to shake out wigglies.  Then, I'll explain what a whole food is, and have some examples that I'll hold up as visuals.  I'll explain what non-whole foods are and the difference.  We'll do a sorting exercise of putting cut-outs of different whole and non-whole foods into the proper categories.  I'll close with questions and then ask the group what they learned to reflect on the key learning points.
